Dr. Lu directs the Case Center for Biomolecular Engineering. His laboratory concentrates on molecular imaging and drug delivery using novel nanotechnology, developing biodegradable materials and organic nanomaterials for targeted imaging agents and drug delivery systems.

He was elected a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors in December 2021.
